This story has been bubbling away since last year, when Netflix made a script-to-series commitment for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s first foray in the world of television, and now they’ve confirmed that the Skydance produced show will be given an eight-episode debut season for the streaming giants.
Deadline reports that the untitled spy-series, which will also be produced by Schwarzenegger, and star Top Gun: Maverick‘s Monica Barbaro, will focus on a father and daughter who learn that they’ve each secretly been working as CIA Operatives for years, forcing them to realise that their entire relationship has been a lie and they truly don’t know one another at all. Forced to team up as partners, the series tackles universal family dynamics set against a global backdrop of spies, fantastic action and humor.
The scripted hourlong has been created by Nick Santora, who is responsible for Jack Reacher and The Fugitive tv-series.
Schwarzenegger said of the news that “Fans from all over the world have been asking me for a wild ride like this for years, and now they’re finally going to get it because of our great partners at Skydance and Netflix. I am beyond pumped to start work on the show with Nick and Monica and the whole team.”
