Andy Serkis to produce, direct and star in adaptation of Rumpelstiltskin

December 11, 2015 by Gary Collinson

The Tracking Board is reporting that Andy Serkis is set to produce, direct and star in Steelskin, an update of the Rumpelstiltskin fairy tale, which is being scripted by Hossein Amini (Snow White and the Huntsman) for 20th Century Fox.

Rumpelstiltskin follows a miller’s daughter who makes a deal with a sinister imp-like creature to help her impress a king by spinning straw into gold. As the king’s demands continue to grow, so too does Rumpelstiltskin’s, with the girl eventually promising him her first born son in a deal that will come back to haunt her.

Serkis, who will next be seen in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is set to make his directorial debut on Warner Bros.’ Jungle Book: Origins, and is also attached to an adaptation of George Orwell’s Animal Farm.
