After decades of attempting to resurrect the 80s franchise Fletch, it was announced last year that Jon Hamm was to step into Chevy Chase’s shoes for a reboot of the comedy-noir character, and now comes word that Confess, Fletch, based on the second book in Gregory Mcdonald’s mystery series, will begin shooting in a little over two weeks.
Adventureland and Superbad director Greg Mottola tweeted the surprise news, confirming that it was just “2 1/2 weeks out”…

Confess, Fletch finds L.A. Times reporter Irwin Morris Fletcher (Hamm) in the middle of multiple murders – one of which pins him as a prime suspect. While on a quest to prove his innocence, Fletch is tasked with finding his fiancée’s stolen art collection, the only inheritance she’s acquired after her father goes missing and is presumed dead.
The journey to get Fletch back to the big screen has seen more twists and turns than the source novels, with the underwhelming sequel followed by years of directorial merry-go-rounds (Kevin Smith, Bill Lawrence), and star names coming-and going (Zach Braff, Ben Affleck, Jason Lee), but now it finally looks as though Fletch is going to be cracking wise on the case once again.
