The Descendants and Big Little Lies‘s Shailene Woodley has signed on to star alongside Jungle Cruise‘s Jack Whitehall in Robots, the new comedy from the writer of Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm.
According the The Hollywood Reporter, Anthony Hines, who also worked on Sacha Baron Cohen’s Brüno, will co-direct the film alongside Casper Chrsitensen, who made Klown, the most successful comedy in Danish box-office history.
On that casting news Hines said “At a time when comedies are needed more than ever, I couldn’t be more delighted than to have Shailene and Jack team up to play the leads in this movie”.
Robots will tell the story of how a womaniser and a gold digger learn about humanity when forced to team up and pursue robot doubles of themselves, and is based on a short story by science-fiction writer Robert Sheckley.
