Former Doctor Who and soon-to-be member of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, Peter Capaldi, has been cast as a lead alongside Wolf Hall’s Jessica Raine in Amazon’s new thriller The Devil’s Hour.
Deadline report that Dracula and Sherlock producers Hartswood Films are behind the project, which will be written by up-and-coming scribe Tom Moran, and tell the story of Lucy Chambers (Raine), a woman who wakes up every night at exactly 3:33AM, in the middle of the so-called devil’s hour between 3AM and 4AM. Her eight-year-old son is withdrawn and emotionless. Her mother speaks to empty chairs. Her house is haunted by the echoes of a life that isn’t her own. Now, when her name is inexplicably connected to a string of brutal murders in the area, the answers that have evaded her all these years will finally come into focus. Capaldi will play a reclusive nomad, driven by a murderous obsession, who becomes the prime target of the police manhunt.
Currently filming in London, the cast will also feature Nikesh Patel as the detective leading the investigation, as well as Meera Syal (Goodness Gracious Me), Alex Ferns (Chernobyl), Phil Dunster (Ted Lasso), Barbara Marten (The Turning), Thomas Dominique (Wrath of Man), Rhiannon Harper-Rafferty , John Alastair, Sandra Hugget, and newcomer Benjamin Chivers.
