Although writer and director James Gunn has stated that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 will be his final instalment in the Marvel franchise and Drax actor Dave Bautista has suggested that he will be leaving the role after the next film, it seems Nebula actor Karen Gillan isn’t ready to move on any time soon.
“I love my character so much. I’m sort of obsessed with her,” Gillan said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “I just get such a kick out of playing a character that’s really removed from myself. But I also feel really emotionally invested in her through everything that she’s gone through with Thanos and all of that. So I would love to continue the journey of the character. I don’t know what that would really look like without James or Dave, but I really like playing her, so I’m not eager to finish.”
So far, Gillan has played Nebula in both Guardians of the Galaxy films as well as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, and is currently set to reprise her role in the fourth instalment of the Thor franchise, Thor: Love and Thunder, alongside Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, and Sean Gunn – which is scheduled for a May 6th 2022 release.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 is currently scheduled to begin production later this year for a 2023 release. While plot details for Vol.3 are being kept under wraps, it is safe to assume that all of the Guardians will be returning including Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Sean Gunn as Kraglin and Rocket Raccoon, and Karen Gillan as Nebula.
