AMC has announced Sam Reid (The Hunting) has been cast as the lead in the series adaptation of Anne Rice’s vampire novel Interview with the Vampire, where he will portray the vampire Lestat.
Lestat de Lioncourt was born in France in 1760 to an aristocratic but broke family. He wanted nothing more than to leave his home and family behind, but when he travelled to Paris in the hopes of becoming an actor, he attracted the attention an ancient vampire named Magnus who kidnapped him and turned him into a vampire. Lestat has spent his life since travelling the world and turned Louis de Pointe du Lac into a vampire, becoming his mentor in the process.
Interview with the Vampire follows “centuries-old vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac [as he] narrates his life to a reporter, starting with when Lestat de Lioncourt turned him into a vampire before going into their life together.”
Evil is a point of view. We are immortal.

The eight-episode series will see Rolin Jones (The Exorcist, Perry Mason) serving as showrunner on the series with Thor: The Dark World and Terminator: Genisys director Alan Taylor helming the first two episodes. Mark Johnson, Anne Rice and Christopher Rice will executive produce the series.
Interview with the Vampire will premiere on AMC in 2022.
