Eddie Murphy is returning to Netflix and bringing Jonah Hill with him as The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Murphy and Hill will star in a Kenya Barris film for the streaming service.
Hill and Barris have co-written the script for the as-yet-untitled film and are producing, while Barris – known for his work on Black-ish and recently penned Murphy’s Coming 2 America – will make his feature directorial debut.
Details about the film’s story and plot are under wraps, but THR notes that the film is an “incisive examination of modern love and family dynamics and how clashing cultures, societal expectations, and generational differences shape and affect relationships. Murphy and Hill will find themselves on opposite sides of some of those divides.”
Eddie Murphy previously worked with Netflix on Dolemite is My Name, which landed him a nomination for Best Actor at the Golden Globes. Murphy is also working with Netflix on the long-gestating Beverly Hills Cop 4, which has Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Bad Boys For Life) attached to direct.
