Last year, Kiefer Sutherland expressed his interest in reprising his role of CTU agent Jack Bauer for more 24, and it seems he may well get his wish as Fox Entertainment President Michael Thorn has confirmed that “active creative discussions” are taking place about a potential revival of the action drama series.
“There’s still a possibility, there’s still some discussions with the producers on a take that we have yet to hear,” Thorn told Deadline this week. “There [are] some active creative discussions that are happening. We always welcome celebrating our iconic shows and revisiting those with surprising takes and new approaches so, especially in this crowded market, we’re always open to reinventing our best IP with some of our favorite partners.”
24 launched back in 2001 and saw Kiefer Sutherland taking on the role of Jack Bauer, a counter-terrorism agent with a skill for saving the world in real time. Sutherland stuck around for eight seasons, a two-hour movie and a 2014 limited series before Fox launched the short-lived and Bauer-less spinoff 24: Legacy in 2017.
Following that last outing, Fox had been developing two potential spinoffs in a female-fronted real-time legal thriller and a prequel series featuring a young Jack Bauer, but it was announced in 2019 that the network had passed on both projects.
