Rob Zombie is a filmmaker known for his edgy, shocking horror movies, but the director is seemingly going a different route with his latest project.
During the spookiest month of them all, Zombie took to social media to offer the first look at the iconic characters he’s bringing to life in The Munsters. In the new image, we see Herman Munster, Lily Munster, and Grandpa sitting in front of their home on 1313 Mockingbird Lane.
Tackling the roles is the usual gaggle of Rob Zombie actors, which all seem to be diving headfirst into these roles. Jeff Daniel Phillips is playing Herman, Sheri Moon Zombie will tackle the stunning Lily, and Dan Roebuck is rounding out the cast as the vampiric Grandpa.
The original Munsters series ran from 1964 to 1966, only about seventy episodes before finding a home on syndication. Since the original series, there’s been a spin-off series, several films, and even more attempts to reboot it.
Rob Zombie tackling The Munsters has left many viewers puzzled as the more family-friendly style of the series doesn’t seem to match with Zombie’s other works. But like Eli Roth and countless horror filmmakers before him, Zombie could want to expand his audience and add his signature spooky style to one of the most iconic families in the world of horror.
Rob Zombie’s The Munsters is set for release in the fall of 2022. It will see a theatrical run, as well as streaming on Peacock.
