Depending on which camp you fell into, James Wan’s horror film, Malignant, was either schlocky fun or one-star nonsense, and it appears that enough people may have fallen into the former category because star Annabelle Wallis has been sharing her thoughts on a potential sequel to the divisive hit.
While on promotional duties for her dark Christmas comedy Silent Night (read our review ★★★★ here), Wallis (The Mummy) told Screen Rant that she has had discussions with James Wan about ideas for a sequel to the $33M grossing horror, and while she didn’t share anything concrete or specific about a potential follow-up, she confirmed that talks have taken place, saying “There’s plenty of ideas swirling around. We were very, very flattered by the reception and I think taken aback by the reception. So yeah, there’s lots of conversations happening.”
Fans of Malignant will be keen to see where Wan can take the story, especially considering the narrative choices made in the original, which is a film that feels as though it will get an extended shelf life when it hits a streaming service or the repertory cinema circuit.
