Following the announcement that the Disney+ series Marvel’s Secret Invasion has started production, Deadline is reporting that Cobie Smulders will once again be reuniting with Samuel L. Jackson as Maria Hill in a prominent role.
Maria Hill was first introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2012’s The Avengers (Avengers Assemble in the United Kingdom and Ireland). Smulders would later reprise her role in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
Although little is known about the series, it seems it will take inspiration from the Secret Invasion storyline where the Avengers discovered several heroes and other people of Earth had been replaced by the shape-shifting Skrulls as they infiltrated the planet. Marvel has previously confirmed that the series won’t be an all-encompassing MCU event like Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
Marvel’s Secret Invasion will run for six episodes and stars Samuel L. Jackson as Fury, Ben Mendohlson reprising his role as Talos, Kingsley Ben-Adir (One Night in Miami) as the main villain, Olivia Colman (The Crown), Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Killian Scott (Dublin Murders) and Christopher McDonald (Happy Gilmore). Directing the series is Thomas Bezucha (Let Him Go) and Ali Selim (The Looming Tower).
