The Marvels enlists What If…? composer Laura Karpman

January 16, 2022 by Amie Cranswick

Having made her Marvel Cinematic Universe on last year’s Disney+ animated series Marvel’s What If…?, Emmy-winning composer Laura Karpman is set to team with director Nia DaCosta (Candyman) to score Marvel Studios’ upcoming Captain Marvel sequel The Marvels.

“I am thrilled to be going on this wild adventure with Nia DaCosta and Carol Danvers and am really looking forward to the collaboration,” said Karpman, who succeeds original Captain Marvel composer Pinar Toprak on the film.

Along with What If…?, Karpman recently composed the score for HBO’s Lovecraft Country, for which she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy.

The Marvels is directed by Nia DaCosta (Candyman) and features a cast that includes Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Zawe Ashton as a mystery villain.

The Marvels is set for release on 17th February 2023.
