Back in November it was announced that Host and Dashcam helmer Rob Savage is set to direct an adaptation of Stephen King’s fan-favourite short story The Boogeyman, and now we have our first casting news on the Hulu original movie with Yellowjackets and Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett star Sophie Thatcher signing on alongside Chris Messina (Birds of Prey, The Sinner).
Published in King’s 1978 collection Night Shift, the short followed a Lester Billings, a grieving father who visits a psychiatrist to recount how his children were killed by a monster in the closet.
The film adaptation will see Thatcher as “a teenage girl who’s still reeling from the tragic death of their mother and finds herself and her brother plagued by a sadistic presence in their house and struggle to get their grieving father to pay attention before it’s too late.”
