Post-apocalyptic open world RPG Underground Life arrives on PC

April 19, 2022 by Andrew Newton

Indie developer Remainder Studios has announced the release of their post-apocalyptic, open world RPG Underground Life on Steam.  This new RPG is inspired by both Stardew Valley and Fallout and requires players to survive the hazards of this ruined world by gathering resources, creating weapons and armour and manage their very own shelter.

Underground Life is set in the not so distant future where a mix of nukes and meteor strikes have caused around 80% of the world to become heavily radiated.  Very few made it through this cataclysm but as one of those who managed to survive safely in their bunker it is up to players to venture forth, find resources and see what remains of civilisation.

Life above ground is harsh and players will need to gather resources with which to repair and expand their base.  Shelters will require a number of different items to function properly, including an electrical generator, a water purifier, a refrigerator to prevent food from spoiling and plenty of chests to store all the goodies found on the journey.  Shelters can also be customised by placing decorations such as pictures, floor tiles and plants.  A farm can also be constructed where players can raise animals like cows, sheep, chickens and rabbits or grow crops.

Players will also need to craft weapons and armour to survive against the many creatures and enemies that they will encounter as they explore the giant continent containing a large number of biomes.  As players explore these biomes they will discover caves, dungeons, swamps, grasslands, woods, deserts, radioactive zone and more that are filled with secrets, treasures and collectibles.

Not everyone will try to kill the survivor, there are many merchants that will have access to lots of useful items, some will even have quests.

Underground Life releases on Steam today.
