FX has announced the first round of casting for the fifth season of its crime anthology Fargo. Leading the new season will be Juno Temple (Ted Lasso), Jon Hamm (Top Gun: Maverick) and Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight).
The series is based upon the 1996 crime comedy from the Coen Brothers with the series created, written and executive produced by Noah Hawley. Each season of Fargo has followed a new cast of characters and storylines that have included the likes of Billy Bob Thorton, Martin Freeman, Carrie Coon, Ewan McGregor, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kirsten Dunst and Chris Rock.
Previous seasons of Fargo have taken place at various points in time, from the 1950s to the early 2000s. Season five will be the closest to our current time as it is set in 2019. Hawley has kept the plot under wraps, but teased season five “answers two questions: When is a kidnapping not a kidnapping, and what if your wife isn’t yours?”
The characters Temple, Hamm and Leigh will play are Dot, Roy and Lorraine respectively. It is not known when Fargo season five will begin production or is intended to premiere.
