Percy Jackson and the Olympians Disney+ series adds three to cast

June 22, 2022 by Liam Waddington

Disney+’s upcoming series adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians has added Dior Goodjohn, Olivea Morton, and Charlie Bushnell to its growing cast. According to Variety’s exclusive report, Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, Jason Mantzoukas, Megan Mullally and Timm Sharp will also appear in recurring guest roles.

Goodjohn, who most recently appeared in the Head of the Class reboot at HBO Max, will portray Clarisse La Rue who is described “as a child of Ares, god of war. Clarisse is a strong-willed and competitive fighter who doesn’t let much stand in the way of her winning. Intensely loyal to her close friends, she’s intimidating to newcomers and a bully to Percy.”

Bushnell, who previously appeared as a series regular on the Disney+ series Diary of a Future President, will play Luke Castellan, who “is the counselor of the Hermes cabin and the undisputed coolest kid on the block, Luke looks like he’d be more at home with a surfboard than in Greek armor. That doesn’t stop him from being the best swordsman around.”

While Morton, who is making their first major television role, plays Nancy Bobofit, a mortal girl who attends Percy’s middle school. Nancy is described as a loud, proud teacher’s pet who always speaks her mind at the expense of others and gets particular pleasure from picking on Percy.

The Percy Jackson and the Olympians series is set to follow the journey of the titular 12-year-old demigod, who’s just coming to terms with his newfound identity as the son of the Greek god Poseidon when Zeus accuses him of stealing his lightning bolt. Percy Jackson will be played by Walker Scobell (The Adam Project) with Aryan Simhadri (Cheaper by the Dozen) and Leah Sava Jeffries (Empire) portraying Grover and Annabeth respectively.

Riordan and Jon Steinberg (Black Sails) will be writing the pilot episode with James Bobin (Dora and the Lost City of Gold) directing. Steinberg and his producing partner Dan Shotz will be overseeing the project and serve as executive producers alongside Bobin, Riordan, Rebecca Riordan, Bert Salke, Monica Owusu-Breen, Jim Rowe, and Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, D.J. Goldberg. The series is currently in production and does not yet have a release date.
