Kelsey Grammer’s Dr. Frasier Crane is once again set to go On Air with the news that a long-in-the-works sequel series to Frasier has finally been given the green light at Paramount+.
Deadline reports that this new series will potentially be 10 episodes long and relocate Frasier Crane to a different city where he will be surrounded by new characters. There is no word yet on whether any of the original cast will return, but it’s hinted that if they do then it will only be to make guest appearances.
The new Frasier series is being developed by writers Chris Harris (How I Met Your Mother) and Joe Cristalli (Life In Pieces), who will also executive produce alongside Grammer, Tom Russo and Jordan McMahon.
The character of Frasier Crane first appeared in Cheers as Sam’s psychiatrist and Diane’s boyfriend, before going on to feature in a further 203 episodes of the classic show.
His popularity was such that a spin-off series was commissioned titled Frasier, which ran for 11 seasons between 1993–2004 and starred Grammer, David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves, Peri Gilpin and John Mahoney, who sadly passed away in 2018.
