Allison Janney and Kristen Bell star in The People We Hate at the Wedding trailer

October 23, 2022 by Amie Cranswick

Prime Video has released a poster and trailer for director Claire Scanlon’s upcoming comedy The People We Hate at the Wedding.

Starring Allison Janney, Kristen Bell, Ben Platt, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson, the film follows dysfunctional siblings Alice and Paul as they travel with their to England to attend the wedding of their estranged half-sister, but chaos ensues when tensions rise and skeletons are wrenched from the closet. Watch the trailer below…

In the hilariously raunchy comedy The People We Hate at the Wedding, dysfunctional American siblings Alice (Kristen Bell) and Paul (Ben Platt), along with their ever-optimistic mom (Allison Janney), are invited to the British wedding of their estranged half-sister Eloise (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) as a chance for them to reconnect as–more or less–adults, and learn to love each other like they once did.

The film follows struggling American siblings Alice (Kristen Bell) and Paul (Ben Platt), who reluctantly agree to attend the wedding of their estranged, wealthy half-sister (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) in the English countryside alongside their mother, Donna (Allison Janney). Over the course of the wedding week, the family’s many skeletons are wrenched from the closet, and the unlikely reunion gives everyone the motivation to move their own lives forward. A modern wedding comedy for anyone with a slightly dysfunctional family (everyone), or anyone who’s been forced to attend a wedding they tried to avoid (also everyone).

The film also stars Dustin Milligan, Isaach De Bankolé, Karan Soni, Tony Goldwyn, Jorma Taccone, Julian Ovenden, and John Macmillan.

The People We Hate at the Wedding arrives on Prime Video on November 18th.
