Prepare to venture deep into the underbelly of Arkham as we have a new showrunner to guide us.
Variety has learned that Warner Bros. Discovery has enlisted Antonio Campos as showrunner for its planned Arkham Asylum series.
Sources close to Variety report Campos will direct and serve as showrunner/executive producer on the series if it does happen to move forward at DC Studios. Who knows what will stay or go with the new regime coming in?
Campos is fresh off another HBO Max series; the critically-acclaimed true crime limited series The Staircase. He also helmed The Devil All the Time for Netflix in 2020, where he initially teamed with The Batman star Robert Pattinson.
Matt Reeves will executive produce the Arkham Asylum show, which will be set his larger universe started in The Batman. Once upon a time, this Arkham series was part of another Batman-related project, but reports say this is now separate from the planned Gotham PD show, which remains in development.
There’s little information on the Arkham Asylum HBO Max series, but Reeves previously described it as “like a horror movie or a haunted house that is Arkham.”
