CBS has placed a pilot order for Drew, which is being described as a contemporary take on the iconic teen sleuth Nancy Drew from the long-running children’s book series.
As per Entertainment Weekly, the logline for Drew reads: “Now in her 30s, Nancy is a detective for the NYPD where she investigates and solves crimes using her uncanny observational skills, all while navigating the complexities of life in a modern world.”
A casting search is underway for the title character, with CBS said to be looking for a non-Caucasian actress for the role.
To date, there have been five feature films and three TV shows based on Nancy Drew, with Emma Roberts last portraying the character in the 2007 movie from Warner Bros.
