Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers returns to the big screen in 2023 for the follow-up to 2019’s blockbuster smash-hit Captain Marvel, and this time Carol will be sharing the spotlight alongside Ms. Marvel’s Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) and WandaVision’s Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) in The Marvels.
The team-up is set to hit cinemas in July, and while we await the official star of the marketing campaign, Disney’s Brazilian branch has issued a synopsis for the sequel which not only gives us some insight into the film’s plot, but also into whatever the hell was going in during Brie Larson’s post-credits cameo in Ms. Marvel.
Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan, Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team-up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as ‘The Marvels.’
