Meet the Klowns from new Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game

January 19, 2023 by Andrew Newton

Good Shepherd Entertainment and Teravision Games have released a new trailer for their upcoming asymmetrical multiplayer horror Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game.  Based on the 1988 film of the same name, Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game recreates the movie with meticulous attention to detail and in this latest trailer (see below) we are introduced to the outlandish Klowns and their wacky weapons.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game features five different classes of Klown with each having a raygun that traps humans in a candy floss cocoon as well as their own unique weapons, abilities and playstyles.

The five Klown classes are:

  • Tracker

Based on Spikey from the film, the Tracker enjoys running around the map providing support to his teammates.  As well as using his standard raygun, the Tracker can shoot humans with a Popcorn Bazooka, peppering the target with popcorn and making them visible on the map, or summon the Balloon Dog, which points in the direction to the nearest survivor.  Tracker also has an invisible car to help him catch fleeing humans.

  • Trapster

Rudy isn’t great at fighting but he’s a master at setting traps to catch the panicking humans in.  He can set the Baby Klown (an ugly, larvae looking creature that springs up and holds down the target) and the Popcorn Mine which showers the human with popcorn and making them visible to Klowns through walls etc.  As well as his traps, he carries the Jawbreaker Mace, which gives a popcorn explosion on contact and reveals the human just like the Popcorn Mines.

  • Tank

Chubby the Klown from the film is the toughest Klown around and carries the Extendable Jawbreaker flail.  This weapon delivers a mighty hit to those unfortunate enough to come into contact with it but don’t underestimate its range as it can be charged up for better reach and power.  Using his Sticky Bash and Rage Rush abilities, Chubby can summon a carpet of candy floss that traps anyone caught in it, or goes rampage-mode, charging into his enemies while running through obstacles and taking less damage from firearms.  For a limited time speed buff, Chubby can tap a straw into a human cocoon and slurp some tasty human innards.

  • Fighter

Shorty is a bit of a nutjob, using his boxing gloves he just wants to fight and thanks to his melee skills and agility he is able to do that tremendously well.  He is able to use his Speedy Tricycle to help him run down humans, and unlike the Tracker’s invisible car, it can be used indoors.  Shorty’s biggest advantage is an ability to call Pizza Box, which allows him to turn into other objects, just like in the game Prop Hunt.  If you think you saw a pizza box move, there’s a chance it did.

  • Scout

Last but by no means least is the Scout.  Jumbo is the best scout a Klown squad could get thanks to his Klown Jump that allows him to leap into unexplored territory, which is normally fogged out in the overhead map.  His lack of ranged combat skills and high damage is more than made up for by his close range skills and stealth.  He can use Hypnotic Lure to draw a human into range or use Lackey Swap to substitute himself with a nearby AI-controlled minion.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game will arrive on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and Steam for PC later this year.  And if you haven’t yet seen this 1988 classic, look it up.
