Amazon Prime is bringing together Michael Bay Joe Barton and for a bounty hunter drama like no other.
Deadline reports Barton will serve as creator and writer for a new series with Bay in the director’s chair. The still-untiled project centers on an “American bounty hunter working South of the border who finds himself in a desperate fight for survival when the man he’s been chasing down lands them both in trouble with the Mexican cartel.”
When discussing the origin of the series, Bay claims the inspiration came from a personal experience. “I was inspired about five years ago hanging out down in Costa Rica with a former US Federal Agent, who surfs every day, living the good life,” says Bay. “He supports his fun, relaxed lifestyle in Costa Rica by tracking down ‘Bad Gringos’ hiding out down in South America.”
“I couldn’t be more excited to be partnering with Michael Bay and Amazon to bring this thrilling and action-filled show to the screen,” Barton added.
Joe Barton is a British screenwriter known for his work executive producing BBC & Netflix’s crime drama Giri/Haji and Sky/HBO Max’s upcoming sci-fi series The Lazarus Project. He’s also currently attached to adapting a new version of Amadeus following the award-winning 1984 film.
