Epic Pictures Group and Dread are bringing writer-director Lee Thongkham’s creature feature The Lake to the US this March.
The Thai-Chinese co-production sees a group of scientists work together to stop a gigantic lake monster from destroying a town after one of its eggs is stolen.
“Inspired by the effects of real world environmental disasters, The Lake is a gripping movie that utilizes both practical and visual effects in truly impressive fashion,” said Epic Pictures CEO Patrick Ewald. “Following in the massive footsteps of Godzilla from Japan and The Host from Korea, The Lake is Thailand’s bold answer to the creature feature. We are so excited to unleash this ferocious beast upon audiences.”

A gigantic and bloodthirsty monster emerges from a lake after its egg is stolen and unleashes its fury on a town’s inhabitants, leaving a trail of destruction and death in its wake. The town of Bueng Kan, now cut off from the outside world, must mobilize its officials and citizens, as well as a group of scientists that are in town conducting research, to catch this predator before it’s too late.
The Lake is set for a limited theatrical release on March 10th, followed by a digital release on March 14th.
