Deadline is reporting that Marvel Studios have tapped Stella Meghie (The Photograph) to join Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings’ Daniel Destin Cretton on the directing team for the upcoming Wonder Man Disney+ series starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman, Watchmen).
Wonder Man has been developed by Cretton and head writer Andrew Guest, and it was initially believed that Cretton would direct all of the series, although his commitments to other projects – not least Avengers: The Kang Dynasty – has presumably altered those plans. At this point, it’s unclear how Cretton and Meghie will split directing duties, but Deadline notes that they are expected to helm multiple episodes apiece.
Meghie’s previous directing credits include 2016’s Jean of the Joneses, 2018’s The Weekend and 2020’s The Photograph. She is also currently working with Disney as executive producer of Tiana, the upcoming Disney+ animated series based upon The Princess and the Frog.

Wonder Man is based upon the character of Simon Williams, a supervillain-turned-Avenger created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Don Heck. Details on the MCU’s plans for the character are being kept under wraps, but we do know that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will be joined in the cast by Ben Kingsley, who reprises his Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi role as Trevor Slattery.
