February 24, 2023 by Matt Rodgers

Described as “A love letter to mothers, sons, and hustlers of NYC”, Focus features has dropped the trailer for their Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner A Thousand and One.

Written and directed by A.V. Rockwell, the film stars Coming 2 America‘s Teyana Taylor as Inez, an ex-con released from prison only to find that her six-year old son has been swallowed up by the care system. Desperate to reunite her fractured family she resorts to kidnapping him. Take a look at the trailer below…

‘A Thousand and One’ follows unapologetic and free-spirited Inez (Teyana Taylor), who kidnaps her six-year-old son Terry from the foster care system. Holding onto their secret and each other, mother and son set out to reclaim their sense of home, identity, and stability, in a rapidly changing New York City.

A Thousand and One lands in US theatres on March 31, 2023.
