A follow-up to the 2017 crime drama Wind River has been in the works for quite some time, and the new film is beginning to pad out its cast.
Wind River: The Next Chapter stars Martin Sensmeier, who is returning to his role as Chip Hanson from the original film. Joining him are Scott Eastwood, Jason Clarke, and Chaske Spencer.
Scott Eastwood, son of legendary filmmaker Clint Eastwood, is best known for his work in various action films like Suicide Squad and The Outpost, and will next be seen in Fast X. Jason Clarke’s credits include First Man, Zero Dark Thirty, Everest, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and Mudbound. Chaske Spencer starred as Sam Uley in The Twilight Saga film series and featured as Teddo in the acclaimed film Wild Indian.
Kari Skogland will direct from a script by Patrick Massett & John Zinman. The sequel comes from Castle Rock Entertainment, which sees producers including Matthew George for Castle Rock and Acacia Filmed Entertainment, Basil Iwanyk, and Erica Lee for Thunder Road Pictures.
Wind River: The Next Chapter follows life reservation where a series of ritualistic murders remain unsolved. The FBI, therefore, enlists the aid of Chip Hanson, a newly minted tracker for the U.S. Fish & Game, who, on the heels of his appearance in Wind River, becomes embroiled in a desperate and dangerous fight between the authorities, a vigilante and the Reservation he calls home.
Production is currently underway in Calgary.
