The cast for Wish is filling out and just gained a massive star.
Chris Pine will join Ariana DeBose and Alan Tudyk in the upcoming animated film, which will coincide with the 100th anniversary of Disney Animation. This will be considered the 62nd animated feature in the Disney Animated Canon.
Little is known about Pine’s role, but he’ll reportedly sing in the film. DeBose will play Asha, while Tudyk plays the pajama-wearing goat named Valentino.
Wish is written by Jennifer Lee and directed by Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn. Reports say the film will blend traditional hand-drawn animation, Disney’s original art style, with CG animation.
Set in the magical kingdom of Rosas, the story introduces Asha, an optimist with a sharp wit who deeply cares about her community. When Asha turns to the sky in a moment of need and makes a wish, her plea is answered by a cosmic force — a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, they face the most formidable of foes to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.
Wish will release on November 22nd, 2023.
