Apple have announced that Ridley Scott’s Joaquin Phoenix led historical epic Napoleon will be given a theatrical release before streaming globally on Apple TV+ on an undisclosed date, and have celebrated by releasing a first-look image which you can see below…
Sony Pictures will partner with Apple on the theatrical rollout, which will see Napoleon ride into cinemas on November 22nd, just in time for festival and awards season.
Originally titled Kitbag after the saying “There is a general’s staff hidden in every soldier’s kitbag”, Napoleon reunites Joaquin Phoenix with his Gladiator director Sir Ridley Scott, and aims to depict the military leader’s epic battles, as well as examining the visionary commander’s volatile relationship with his wife, Josephine, who will be played by Vanessa Kirby (Pieces of a Woman).
Napoleon is the second high-profile film in recent days to be given a theatrical release, following the news that Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon will hit the big-screen in October, with the streamer having struck a similar distribution deal with Paramount Pictures.
