Netflix is teaming with Samara Weaving to produce a pilot for Little Sky, a single camera comedy series from creator and director Rightor Doyle (Down Low).
As per Deadline, the series will see Weaving executive producing and starring as Penelope Paul Porter, “who is determined to realize her lifelong dream of being a respected on-air news reporter (despite the fact she may be the worst reporter of all time). When she receives an anonymous tip that the Mayor of Little Sky is missing, she knows it’s her chance to finally prove herself. Arriving in the spooky, remote town of Little Sky, she senses she’s on to a big story – but little does she know she’s stumbled upon something much darker than she could have ever imagined.”
Little Sky is notable for being the first time that Netflix has strayed from its straight-to-series model in favour of a more traditional pilot route, although Deadline notes that this is not expected to mark a shift in policy where the streaming giant has typically used full first seasons as “pilots”.
Samara Weaving has previously worked with Netflix on The Babysitter and its 2020 sequel The Babysitter: Killer Queen, along with Ryan Murphy’s Hollywood. The actress is coming off Damien Chazelle’s Babylon, as well as last month’s Scream VI.
