More G.I. Joe movies are currently in development

May 5, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Are you ready for more G.I. Joe movies? Prepare for more military-filled action adventures in our future as a producer confirms there are more projects ahead.

Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura recently sat down with Collider to discuss Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, and the conversation moved to another Hasbro project: G.I. Joe.

The subject of a once-planned Lady Jaye series, which would’ve linked to the film franchise, was brought up. Given the rocky road the film franchise has been through, di Bonaventura’s answer about more films was perhaps surprising.

In his interview, di Bonaventura tells Collider, “We actually developed a pilot with Amazon. This was before Paramount+, just as Paramount+ was coming in. It didn’t pan out. We are in a lot of conversations about what to do with it as a film, and so I would have to say, most likely, you’re going to see that come to fruition. How soon is always impossible to say. For a long time, there were no active conversations. There’s a lot going on right now.”

While G.I. Joe’s movie future is still in the air, Transformers holds firm with Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the seventh in the long-running franchise, is set to debut this June.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is directed by Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II) and features a cast that includes Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, Luna Lauren Velez, and Tobe Nwigwe, along with Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime, Ron Perlman as Optimus Primal, Michelle Yeoh as Airazor and Pete Davidson as Mirage.

Returning to the action and spectacle that have captured moviegoers around the world, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a ‘90s globetrotting adventure with the Autobots and introduce a whole new faction of Transformer – the Maximals – to the existing battle on earth between Autobots and Decepticons.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts arrives in cinemas on June 8th, 2023.
