Ron Perlman returns to horror with Succubus

May 24, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Ron Perlman, famous for his work in films like Blade 2 and Hellboy, is returning to horror with a new thriller from Shout! Studios as Deadline reports Perlman will team with Rosanna Arquette in Succubus, written and directed by R.J. Daniel Hanna (Hard Miles).

Succubus follows a new father going through a marital separation who joins a dating app and matches with a beautiful but mysterious young woman…whose powers of seduction and manipulation entangle him in a mystery more horrifying than he could have ever imagined.

Alongside Perlman and Arqeutte, the film also stars Brendan Bradley, Rachel Cook, Olivia Applegate, Derek Smith, Emily Kincaid, and Finley Rose Slater.

“My favorite horror thrillers are ones that have something to say about human beings, and in Succubus, Daniel has crafted a chilling metaphor for the clutch that screens have on us,” said Shout! Studios’ Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and Originals, Jordan Fields. “This will disturb and resonate like the best of the genre.”

Perlman was last seen in Poker Face, the Rian Johnson crime comedy on Peacock. He recently starred in two Guillermo del Toro projects, the Oscar-nominated Nightmare Alley and lending his voice in Pinocchio. The prolific actor has quite the slate ahead of him, including Joe Baby with Harvey Keitel, Doug Liman’s The Instigators, and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
