Doctor Who – The Audio Novels: The Box of Terrors coming from Big Finish this November

June 27, 2023 by Andrew Newton

This November will see the arrival of a new Doctor Who audio novel courtesy of Big Finish Productions.  Actor, comedian and impressionist, Jon Culshaw, will narrate the diamond anniversary Doctor Who – The Audio Novels: The Box of Terrors written by Lizzie Hopley.

In Doctor Who – The Audio Novels: The Box of Terrors two Doctors (the Third and Fourth) and two Sarah Jane Smiths will come together to overcome the latest schemes of an old enemy.

The Third Doctor, having been accused of wiping out an entire civilisation follows a strange comet set to arrive on Earth.  Meanwhile, the Fourth Doctor and his Sarah Jane Smith find themselves answering to an intergalactic emergency, the beacons protecting the ‘Sand Box’ are failing and whatever is inside could be about to escape.  However, before the Fourth Doctor can come up with a solution, the TARDIS arrives in front of him and out pops the Third Doctor along with his Sarah Jane Smith.  Is the four of them working together enough to keep the ‘Sand Box’ closed and whatever is within from getting out?

“The Box of Terrors is the biggest thing I’ve written for Big Finish and it was an honour to be asked to do it for the 60th Anniversary. ‘The Third and Fourth Doctors battle Omega’ is not a job you say no to and there was much discussion with the endlessly talented duo, David Richardson and Roland Moore, as to who and what else to feature – imagine that sweetshop of ideas!” said writer Lizzie Hopley.

Doctor Who – The Audio Novels: The Box of Terrors is available for pre-order exclusively from the Big Finish website.  Alternatively, Who Fans can purchase all six titles in the Doctor Who – The Audio Novels range together as a bundle for just £99.
