Bret Easton Ellis’ most iconic work is getting a new graphic rendition as Deadline reports American Psycho is heading to us with a new comic book adaptation.
LA-based comic book publisher Sumerian will be primarily based on the 2000 horror film starring Christian Bale as the iconic Patrick Bateman. The story comes from Michael Calero, with Piotr Kowalski’s art and Brad Simpson’s color.
Sumerian penned a deal with producer Pressman Film, which included the rights to use Christian Bale’s likeness in character as portrayed in the film.
Per Deadline, the new American Psycho “will have a dual narrative, one showing a different perspective of Bateman’s killing spree (with a notable ‘twist’) and another revealing a modern-day arc with ‘surprising connections to the past.'”
The four-issue comic book series will follow “an all-new psychopath as social media obsessed millennial, Charlie (Charlene) Carruthers, goes on a downward spiral filled with violence. Drug-fueled partying leads to bloodshed as Charlie leaves a trail of bodies on her way to discovering the truth about her dark nature.”
The American Psycho comic book is set to come out later this year. Check out some cover art below…
