Five Things You Really Didn’t Know About Catherine Zeta Jones

February 2, 2016 by admin

Catherine Zeta Jones is one of the nation’s real darlings. A girl from the valleys, she’s transformed herself into a global Hollywood superstar starring in the likes of Chicago, The Legend of Zorro and Ocean’s Twelve.

She’s swapped the bright lights of Swansea for New York, but here are a few facts that you probably didn’t know about the Welsh princess.

It was Danny DeVito who introduced her to Michael Douglas

Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas have been married for 15 years after marrying in November 2000. Interestingly however, they were introduced to each other with a little help from Danny DeVito.

DeVito and Douglas once lived together in New York but it was in 1998 at Deauville Film Festival in 1998.

Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas actually share a birthday

The 25th December is a special day for Catherine Zeta Jones. Born on the day back in 1969, a year Michael Douglas was starting out in his career.

However, it is also the birthdate of her husband, who was born in 1944. It’s all fun and games for the Douglas household in September!

She’s a bingo fanatic

Naturally, coming from the south of Wales, Catherine is a fan of a get-together and a game, and bingo is a big part of that. A fan since childhood, the Ladbrokes Bingo Quiz has cited her as the bingo queen, with the actress even making her own set of balls and cards. We doubt Michael’s much of a fan though….

She was named after her grandmothers Zeta Jones and Catherine Fair

Catherine will carry her family’s legacy forever with both Catherine and Zeta credited in every film she’s appeared. She’s named after both of her grandmothers with one named Zeta Jones and the other Catherine.

Additionally, her daughter Carys also has the middle name Zeta.

Is a karaoke queen

As you’d expect, Zeta Jones loves a sing song. She won an Academy Award for her role in Chicago and has a background in singing that stretches back to her childhood.

However, she loves a little karaoke too, with rumour having it that she insists on having a karaoke machine in her trailer during filming. We’d like to think she’s a Super Furry Animals fan.
