Barbie is now in the league with some of the biggest blockbusters in the modern era.
After its two-month dominance at the domestic box office, where it sat in the top 5 the entire run, Barbie will now surpass Marvel Studios’ The Avengers in terms of its domestic box office haul.
Barbie has generated $626 million at the domestic box office, surpassing Marvel’s 2012 blockbuster The Avengers and its $623 million total. This puts the Greta Gerwig-helmed project as the 11th-highest-grossing release in history. It must overcome 2015’s Jurassic World and its $653 million domestic gross to crack the top ten.
