Indie developer Red Barrels today announced they will be bringing a suitably sinister Halloween update to their survival horror multiplayer The Outlast Trials on 26th October. To get the mouths watering in anticipation, a new trailer can be seen below revealing the new map that will be challenging players….
The Halloween update will introduce the new trial map ‘Program 4: Courthouse’ and is set, funnily enough, in a courthouse where all manner of creatures will challenge players’ survival skills. There will be new weekly challenges to complete and also be a limited-time Halloween event called Program Geister, which will give players the opportunity to earn some special rewards.
Other new additions with the update include new Amps, Variators, Prescriptions, cosmetic items, cell items, numerous quality-of-life enhancements and a Sleep Room Minigame for players to idle away their time while they build up the courage to face the Courthouse again.
The developer has also announced the upcoming release of the official soundtrack for The Outlast Trials on Spotify on 25th October. This haunting soundtrack composed by Tom Salta (Halo, Ghost Recon) will allow people to experience the eerie sounds of the game without the terrifying gameplay.
The Outlast Trials is currently on Steam Early Access and between 26th October and 2nd November will be available with a special 20% discount.
