Deadpool 3 needs a bit more time in the oven, primarily due to only being partially the way through filming.
With the WGA strike coming to a close, many hoped the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike would end. Sadly, that’s not the reality as the strike nears a hundred days and has put a significant dent in most Hollywood productions. One of those films was Deadpool’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Deadpool 3.
Deadline reports “that Marvel Studios’ Deadpool 3 won’t make its May 3 start-of-summer theatrical release date.” They note even if the strike ends in the next few weeks, there will still need to be a large amount of filming needing to be done. That massively changes Marvel’s plan to kick off the summer as they’ve done recently.
The reported plan is that Captain America: Brave New World, which initially had the May release and was pushed to July 26, could move back as it’s already finished production. Deadpool 3 could take that July release if things go according to plan, although it should be noted that Disney hasn’t made the Deadpool 3 move official just yet.
