Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon set for prequel comic series House of the Bloodaxe

October 23, 2023 by Gary Collinson

Titan Comics has announced that it is teaming with filmmaker Zack Snyder to expand the world of his upcoming space opera Rebel Moon with the launch of the four-issue prequel comic Rebel Moon: House of the Bloodaxe.

Based on a story by Snyder and written by Mags Visaggio (Transformers vs. The Visionaries) with art by Clark Bint (Killtopia), the comic takes place five years before the events of Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire and explores the backstory of Darrian and Devra Bloodaxe, played by Ray Fisher and Cleopatra Coleman respectively in the two-part Netflix epic.

“I’m excited to collaborate with Mags to explore the rich and complex backstory of the Bloodaxe siblings,” said Zack Snyder. “In Rebel Moon: House of the Bloodaxe, fans will get to discover their motivation, as well as the genesis of the rebellion.”

As war is looming on the horizon on the planet Shasu, the leader of the Bloodaxe family is conflicted between living up to his father’s domineering legacy and maintaining the peace. It is up to him to settle the conflicts within himself, and his family, before the entire planet erupts in war.

“When a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival. Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants, and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge. As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a battle over the fate of a galaxy is waged, and in the process, a new army of heroes is formed.”

Featuring in the cast of Rebel Moon are Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Anthony Hopkins, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Stuart Martin, Cary Elwes, Corey Stoll, Michiel Huisman, Alfonso Herrera, Ed Skrein, Cleopatra Coleman, Fra Fee, Rhian Rees, Jena Malone, E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi, Sky Yang, and Staz Nair.
