Christmas time in Hollywood means less news, but Deadline brings word that Olivia Wilde is plotting a holiday treat.
The trade broke the story that Wilde will be directing Naughty, a new Christmas comedy from LuckyChap. Penning the script is writer Jimmy Warden, fresh off his work in Cocaine Bear. Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, and Josey McNamara will produce through LuckyChap.
Per Deadline, Naughty follows “Mallory, whose only hope of securing custody of her son from her gaslighting trash-bag ex is to find Santa Claus and convince him to testify in her divorce hearing.” It’s being described as ‘Bridesmaids in the North Pole.’
LuckyChap is fresh off Barbie and heading towards the upcoming awards season. They also have Saltburn from this year, and the production company’s Promising Young Woman won Best Original Screenplay for Emerald Fennell’s work.
As for director Olivia Wilde, this will mark her first film since the controversial Don’t Worry Darling. Not that the movie was shocking, but the on-set romance and surrounding hectic press tour led the film to a rocky road. Wilde will look to this comedy as a return to form and look to put the past behind her.
There’s no word on when Naughty will begin production.
