THR is reporting that Charlize Theron and Daniel Craig are set to star in Two for the Money, a heist thriller from director Justin Lin which has just been picked up as a package by Apple Original Films after a hotly-contested studio bidding war.
The project was conceived by Lin and co-writer Dan Mazeau during they time they worked together on Fast X, with the duo subsequently pitching it to cast member Charlize Theron, who also worked with Lin previously on F9. Lin would ultimately exit the director’s chair on Fast X, which was released back in May under director Louis Letterier.
While specific details on the film’s plot are being kept under wraps at present, THR’s report reveals that the story “follows the evolution of a relationship between two career thieves, to be played by Theron and Craig, over the course of three big jobs.”
On its film slate, Apple TV+ is coming off Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon and Ridley Scott’s Napoleon, while upcoming projects include Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle and an as-yet-untitled Formula 1 film with Brad Pitt.
It’s unclear at this point where Two for the Money fits into the schedule, as Lin is about to start shooting The Last Days of John Allen Chau in Thailand in early 2024, and also signed on last year for a live-action One Punch Man movie.
