All the stars (literally) are aligned to expand the Addams Family Universe being built at Netflix.
It was revealed that the streamer is currently in the early development of a Wednesday spinoff focusing on Uncle Fester. Per Bloomberg, Amazon MGM Studios is entirely on board for developing the spinoff. Amazon MGM Studios produces the series with Netflix and owns the rights to the characters.
After making his debut as Fester Addams in the first season of Wednesday, Fred Armisen will be the centerpiece. As the second season enters production soon, we’ll see more of Armisen as Fester ahead of his own series.
Gough once teased this spinoff to The Hollywood Reporter, telling the outlet, “We’ve definitely talked about it with Netflix. When you create a world like this, the intention is any one of these characters could be the lead in their own show. Certainly, it’s cast that way when you have Fred Armisen, when you have Catherine Zeta-Jones, when you have Luis Guzman. It’s certainly something we’ve discussed and would very much like to, in success, really branch out this world beyond just Wednesday.”

At the time of writing, there’s no word on a potential release date for Netflix’s Wednesday Season 2, but Tim Burton & crew are eying a production start date in the Spring of 2024.
