Following his much publicised departure from directorial duties on Scream 7, Happy Death Day’s Christopher Landon has been tapped to helm werewolf horror Big Bad.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate are in negotiations to secure Big Bad, which is based on a short story by Chandler Baker that appeared in a collection of horror tales called Creature Feature.
The plot centres on the Strauss family; Sam is the resentful stay-at-home dad, Rachel his restless wife, and their children are starting to get out of hand. When a mudslide near their isolated farmhouse forces the wolves out of the woods to hunt for food, the family must come together to survive the night—from the threats outside and those within.
Following the news of Spyglass firing actor Melissa Barrera from Scream 7, which in-turn caused Jenna Ortega to exit the project, Landon also felt the domino effect as his “dream job turned into a nightmare“, departing the long-running slasher franchise back in December.
New York Times bestselling author Baker is on board to adapt her own book, something she is already doing for MGM, who secured the rights to another of her novels, The Husbands, which has Kristen Wiig attached to star.
