Matthew McConaughey looks to step into a brand new thriller from Paul Greengrass.
In a new story from Deadline, it’s reported that McConaughey has entered negotiations to star in Comet Films and Blumhouse’s The Long Bus. Jamie Lee Curtis and Jason Blum are currently attached as producers, with Greengrass also in negotiations to direct.
At the time of writing, the film has no official studio, but Deadline reports, “Apple Original Films is in discussions to board the film.” Brad Ingelsby is attached to adapt the Lost Bus script from Lizzie Johnson’s book Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire. The novel follows the 2018 Camp Fire, which became the deadliest fire in California’s history.
Deadline notes, “The film will focus on heroic bus driver Kevin McKay and school teacher Mary Ludwig, who helped navigate a bus full of children through the deadly wildfire as the town of Paradise is caught in the destruction and chaos. The fire destroyed most of the mountain town and killed 85.”
It was also detailed that Curtis is spearheading the project’s development after hearing the author on NPR and later reading the novel.
