Chris Rock has inked a deal to direct the English-language remake of Denmark’s Another Round, the 2022 award-winning black comedy that starred Mads Mikkelsen.
Per Deadline’s story, the Top Five director will develop a remake of Thomas Vinterberg’s film, which won an Academy Award for Best International Feature Film, and the BAFTA for Best Film Not in the English Language.
Written by Vinterberg and Tobias Lindholm, Another Round stars Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Bo Larsen, Magnus Millang and Lars Ranthe as four high school teachers who start an experiment to drink alcohol throughout the workday to see how it affects their social and professional lives.
Rock made his directorial debut with 2003 comedy Head of State, before following that up with 2007’s I Think I Love My Wife. However, it was 2014’s Top Five for which he earned the best reviews of his behind-the-camera career.
He is currently working on an adaptation of Jonathan Eig’s critically acclaimed biography King: A Life for Universal Pictures, which is described as the definitive biopic’ of Martin Luther King Jr.
