Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion was one of those 90s cult classics that won over audiences with its immense charm.
Since then, fans have wanted to see Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow make their glorious return. We have news on a potential follow-up, with writer Robin Schiff reportedly cooking up Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion 2.
As reported by Deadline, Sorvino had a recent interview with Us magazine where she disclosed the project’s current state and said it’s up to Schiff’s busy schedule.
“She’s currently working on Emily in Paris, so she’s finishing up her draft to present to the studio. Lisa [Kudrow] and I are wrapping up our deals as executive producers on it with the studio. We’re full force ahead,” says Sorvino.
In addition to Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow, the cast also included Janeane Garofalo, Alan Cumming, Julia Campbell, Vincent Ventresca, Elaine Hendrix, Justin Theroux, and Camryn Manheim. David Mirkin was the original film’s director, but there’s no word on who will helm the sequel.
A made-for-television film was released in 2005 titled Romy and Michele: In the Beginning, which starred Katherine Heigl as Romy and Alexandra Breckenridge as Michele.
