Actress and comedian Amy Schumer has just signed on to join the cast of the upcoming drama Thank You for Your Service in what will be her first serious role.
The DreamWorks film, which is based on the book of the same title by journalist David Finkel, stars Miles Teller (Fantastic Four) as Adam Schumann, a man who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after coming home from the war in Iraq.
In 2015, Schumer wrote and starred in the Golden Globe-nominated comedy Trainwreck, which, considering its $35 million budget, became a massive financial successful, bringing in around $140 million. Not only did she continue to show off her comedic chops in the film, but she also proved to the audience that she could handle the film’s more dramatic scenes as well.
Thank You for Your Service is being written and directed by American Sniper screenwriter Jason Hall and features a cast that also includes Haley Bennett (The Girl on the Train), Joe Cole (Green Room), Keisha Castle-Hughes (Game of Thrones), Brad Beyer (42), Scott Haze (The Sound and the Fury), Omar J. Dorsey (Selma) and Jayson Warner Smith (Mississippi Grind). No exact release date is set, but the film has just gone into production and is expected to hit theaters later this year.
