Amazon has renewed its sci-fi comedy Upload for a fourth and final season.
Upload takes place in a future where highly advanced technology is commonplace, including the ability to upload your consciousness to a digital afterlife when you die. When Nathan Brown gets in a car accident and is uploaded to the high-priced and fancy Lakeview afterlife community, he has to get used to his digital afterlife while uncovering the mystery behind his accident and a conspiracy about Lakeview’s true purpose.
Upload was created by Greg Daniels, co-creator of the hit comedies The Office, Parks and Recreation and King of the Hill. On the series’ upcoming conclusion, Daniels said “When I conceived Upload many years ago, I had the story arced out over four seasons, so I am thrilled to make the ending the fans deserve and the characters and creative team have been working towards. Jen Salke and Vernon Sanders have been our Angels and they deserve 5 stars.”
The series is set in a technologically advanced future where holographic phones, self-driving vehicles, AI assistance, and 3D food printers are the norm,” reads the logline. “And, forget about dying – instead, you’ll be ‘uploaded’ to a virtual reality afterlife, and enjoy all the comforts of a world-class resort. Provided you can afford it.
Upload stars Robbie Amell as Nathan, Andy Allo as Nora, Kevin Bigley as Luke, Allegra Edwards as Ingrid, Zainab Johnson as Aleesha and Owen Daniels as A.I. Guy.
