In the great words of One-Punch Man himself, “OK.”
With Justin Lin set to helm the live-action adaptation of the famous manga/anime, it was only a matter of time before Hollywood would want to punch up the script, and now we’ve learned who is involved in the upcoming rewrites.
Screenwriters Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner were initially attached to script the film for One-Punch Man. More cooks were invited into the kitchen as writer Heather Anne Campbell and Community co-creator Dan Harmon set to pen the rewritten script.
Campbell and Harmon worked together previously on Rick and Morty, and both confirmed the news via social media. Campbell linked to an article posted by Harmon and tweeted, “So I guess it’s official that I’m working on the One Punch Man movie. Let’s f–kin’ goooooooooo.”
One-Punch Man is a cult hit, with memes and plenty of fan admiration for the character in recent years. The anime and manga stars Saitama, a superhero who can defeat opponents with a single punch. Since he’s such a powerhouse, he’s always on the hunt for a worthy opponent and takes on any foe in his quest to fight evil. The manga series is a massive success, with worldwide sales totaling over 30 million copies.
